Abstract

This study examines the contribution of Paulo Freire’s pedagogical thought to building the school of the future, considering the social, cultural, and technological transformations of the 21st century. The objective was to understand how Freirean foundations — dialogue, conscientization, critique of banking education, and appreciation of diversity — can guide inclusive and emancipatory pedagogical practices. A qualitative, bibliographic, and analytical-interpretative approach was adopted, based on Freire’s original works and recent studies. The results indicate that his pedagogy remains current and capable of inspiring critical curricula, responsible integration of technologies, and strengthening democratic participation. It is concluded that the school, inspired by these principles, can become a living space for the collective construction of knowledge and the promotion of citizenship. The study reinforces the relevance of revisiting and updating Freire’s legacy to address contemporary educational challenges and envision a fairer and more inclusive school future.
