This paper discusses ludopedagogy as a practice that enhances child development in daycare centers in the municipality of Saquarema-RJ, understanding play as the central axis of the educational process in early childhood. Based on authors such as Kishimoto, Vygotsky, Piaget, Luckesi, and Brites, the study highlights that playfulness constitutes an intentional practice that promotes children’s cognitive, emotional, social, and motor development, going beyond the conception of a merely recreational activity. Therefore, the research aims to analyze how ludopedagogy can be strengthened in daycare centers, emphasizing the importance of teacher mediation and meaningful experiences in the learning process. Methodologically, this is a qualitative and exploratory research, developed through a literature review and experience reports based on professional practice in early childhood education units within the municipality. The results indicate that, although there are investments in physical infrastructure, pedagogical resources, and continuing education, challenges related to the effective implementation of play as an intentional pedagogical practice still remain. It was observed that well-planned ludopedagogical activities promote greater engagement, autonomy, social interaction, and meaningful learning. Therefore, it is concluded that ludopedagogy is essential for the integral development of children, and it is necessary to increase investments in educational spaces and teacher formation for its consolidation. It is also emphasized that the act of playing should be recognized as a fundamental language of childhood, contributing to a more humanized, inclusive, and transformative education, not only in Saquarema, but throughout the entire educational context.
