Abstract

The field trip to Serra da Capivara National Park, located in São Raimundo Nonato (PI), enabled the development of a methodological proposal for educational activities aimed at elementary school students. During the trip, students were able to visit different archaeological sites, observe rock paintings, and understand aspects of the first human groups that inhabited the region. The excursion also included visits to the Museum of Nature and the Museum of the American Man, spaces that broadened discussions about evolution, climate, biodiversity, and human occupation in Brazilian territory. Based on this experience, a pedagogical guide was developed that seeks to integrate theory and practice, favoring the contextualization of school content and stimulating meaningful learning. The material guides teachers in preparing for the excursion, mediating activities, and making didactic use of the visited spaces. The formative potential of Serra da Capivara is highlighted due to its historical, cultural, and environmental richness, capable of promoting interdisciplinarity and student protagonism.
