COMMUNITY BANK: A STUDY ABOUT THE BANK OF SÃO JOÃO DO ARRAIAL-PI

Given the traditional financial system: Public and private bank, due to the selection criteria, the guarantees required in these institutions seek a high rate of financial return, so the needy Brazilian population, those who live in extreme poverty, do not have access to services bank accounts. This work with the theme Community Bank: A study on the Bank of Cocais of São João do Arraial-PI is justified by presenting social aspects that contribute to the economy of the municipality under study. Recently, alternatives have emerged to try to democratize access to financial resources, which are now considered to be of common interest, collective use, in the new governance mechanisms of the economic sector, such as innovation, uniting the financial sector, mainly with regard to local development. From the standpoint of the solidarity economy, the social currency promoted by the Community Development Banks (BCD) can be used not only as a substitute for financial exclusion, but also as an engine of growth for small cities. From this context, the present work sought to carry out a study on Banco dos COCAIS in the city of São João do Arraial - PI, with the general objective of understanding the importance of Banco dos Cocais for the local population, and with specific objectives to show how the Banco dos Cocais emerged, to analyze the advantages and disadvantages of using cocais and to understand the challenges overcome for the implantation of this bank. The working method was based on published materials (mainly books, journal articles and materials made available on the Internet and by the COCAIS bank). In addition to a qualitative quantitative field research, which offered subsidies for the realization of this article. Concluding with the results and discussion that show that Banco dos Cocais is fundamental for its population, as it helps them in the growth and development of the city, and it is still a matter of pride for its citizens.
