This article discusses the importance of socioemotional competencies in the school context, highlighting both challenges and possibilities for their implementation. Based on the Brazilian National Common Curricular Base (BNCC) and theoretical references such as Goleman (1995), Damásio (2011), and Freire (1996), it is shown that socioemotional development is essential for the integral formation of students. Topics such as teacher training, family-school integration, active methodologies, and future perspectives are addressed, emphasizing that these competencies contribute to improved academic performance, social coexistence, and mental health. It is concluded that socioemotional education should be understood as a fundamental part of the educational mission, preparing young people for the challenges of the 21st century.
