Emergency and urgent care within the Brazilian Unified Health System (SUS) requires coordination among different health professionals, updated clinical protocols, and strategies focused on patient safety. In this context, this chapter aims to discuss the importance of interdisciplinary care associated with innovation and the implementation of integrated protocols to improve the quality of care in emergency services. The methodology consists of a narrative literature review based on national and international scientific publications addressing patient safety, emergency care organization, and interdisciplinary practices in health services. The results indicate that the use of standardized clinical protocols combined with collaborative work among physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and other health professionals contributes to reducing care-related errors, improving decision-making processes, and increasing efficiency in the management of critical situations. Furthermore, innovative strategies such as structured triage systems and the use of health information technologies strengthen communication among teams and enhance the effectiveness of care delivery. It is concluded that interdisciplinary integration, together with evidence-based care protocols, is essential to promote patient safety and improve the quality of urgent and emergency care within the SUS context.
