CHALLENGES AND NEW PERSPECTIVES IN THE PEDAGOGICAL PRACTICE OF DISTANCE EDUCATION AND ONLINE TEACHING

Abstract

This article aims to discuss, through a literature review, the advances, challenges, and potential of distance learning (DL) and online education in the contemporary educational landscape. In light of the transformations brought about by Digital Information and Communication Technologies (DICTs), distance learning has emerged as a relevant and necessary alternative to ensure the continuity of learning, especially in contexts of democratization of access to education. The study is based on the concept that online teaching is not limited to the transposition of content to virtual platforms, but requires new pedagogical, methodological, and learning management approaches. Based on authors such as Belloni, Kenski, Moran, and Peters, the study analyzes the fundamentals, benefits, and obstacles of distance learning, highlighting the importance of teacher mediation, student autonomy, and the critical and creative use of technological resources. The final considerations point to the need for public policies that ensure digital equity, continuing education for education professionals, and the development of methodologies that value interaction, collaboration, and the personalization of learning.
