Being a teacher in the twenty first century involves working in a profession shaped by expanding school demands, changing relationships with knowledge and the need to provide learning opportunities for students with different educational pathways. This chapter discusses the relationships among professional challenges, school transformation and the commitment to learning, considering teaching knowledge, pedagogical mediation and institutional working conditions. It presents a qualitative bibliographic study with a theoretical and reflective approach, drawing on fifteen works concerning teacher education, professional knowledge, assessment and digital culture. The analysis understands school transformation as a process involving educational purposes, the organization of work and the participation of those involved. The results comprise analytical propositions concerning professional autonomy, the monitoring of student work, feedback and critical engagement with technologies. A synthesis table connects teaching challenges, possibilities for school transformation and commitments to learning, without claiming empirical validation. The chapter argues that renewing teaching practices requires a connection between informed professional decisions and collective conditions for putting them into practice. It concludes that the commitment to learning depends on professional knowledge, the analysis of teaching situations and institutional responsibility for a school that enables students to participate, understand and progress.
