Abstract

Gender equity in education is a central issue for building fair and inclusive societies. Despite significant progress in recent decades, such as the increase in female enrollment at different educational levels, structural inequalities still persist, compromising permanence, the quality of the school experience, and professional opportunities. Gender stereotypes, school-based violence, and segregation by fields of knowledge are obstacles that must be addressed through consistent public policies, teacher training focused on diversity, and initiatives that promote female representation. Programs such as Garotas STEM by the British Council, and reports from UNESCO and OECD, demonstrate that investing in gender equity in education means investing in innovation, diversity, and collective progress.
