ACTIVE METHODOLOGIES AND QUALITY OF EDUCATION IN PROMOTING STUDENT-CENTERED LEARNING PROCESSES

Contemporary educational transformations have highlighted the need to move beyond traditional teaching models and expand pedagogical practices that value student agency. In this context, active learning methodologies stand out as strategies capable of fostering student-centered learning processes, promoting autonomy, participation, and the meaningful construction of knowledge. This study aimed to analyze the contributions of active learning methodologies to the promotion of student-centered learning and the improvement of educational quality. It is an integrative literature review conducted using the ERIC, SpringerLink, Latindex, and Miguilim databases, covering publications in Portuguese and English from 2021 to 2026. Descriptors related to active learning methodologies, educational quality, and student-centered learning were used; 16 studies were selected following the application of inclusion and exclusion criteria. The results demonstrated that active learning methodologies foster the development of critical thinking, autonomy, collaboration, academic motivation, and meaningful learning across various educational levels. Furthermore, the findings showed that the integration of digital technologies enhances dynamic learning experiences, although challenges regarding teacher training, curricular reorganization, and institutional infrastructure remain. The study concludes that active learning methodologies represent a significant strategy for enhancing educational processes, provided they are implemented with pedagogical planning, institutional support, and an emphasis on the teacher's role as a facilitator.
