CULTURAL INDUSTRY AND THE TRIVIALIZATION OF VIOLENCE: AN ANALYSIS OF ITS IMPACTS ON INDIVIDUAL FORMATION

Abstract

This study aims to provide a brief analysis of the trivialization of violence promoted by the cultural industry across its various forms of media, including films, television series, animated productions, video games, and other entertainment products, as well as its impacts on the formation of individuals, who passively engage with the reproduction of different forms of violence as entertainment. To this end, the study seeks to establish a complementary dialogue with the concept of the society of the spectacle in order to better understand how experiences mediated by images of violence contribute to the passive contemplation of the contemporary individual. Methodologically, this research adopts a qualitative and exploratory bibliographic approach, grounded in the theoretical contributions of authors from Critical Theory and Cultural Studies.
