This article is about the importance of the history of philosophy in teaching philosophy in high school from the perspective of the idealist philosopher Hegel. It presents some difficulties encountered in secondary education due to the fragmentation of the subject, causing individualism, marked by the context of exacerbated access to information that ceased to be the school and the teacher many decades ago who is not a holder of knowledge but becomes a mediator in the teaching-learning process. Thus, Hegelian philosophy has a lot to teach us because, due to its provocative, reflective character, it demonstrates the search for the totality of knowledge based on dialectics promoted by a history that is living and life-giving.
