Abstract

The 6x1 work schedule has been widely discussed due to its impact on mental health, quality of life, and interpersonal relationships among workers. This study aimed to analyze, from a psychological perspective, the effects of the 6x1 schedule on mental workload and social bonds among adults in the contemporary labor market. This is a bibliographic study based on the analysis of scientific articles, books, and official documents published between 2019 and 2025 addressing occupational mental health, work-related stress, burnout syndrome, and social relationships in the workplace. The findings indicate that the reduction of time available for rest, leisure, and family interaction contributes to increased levels of stress, emotional exhaustion, anxiety, and feelings of social isolation. Furthermore, prolonged exposure to this work arrangement may significantly impair the development and maintenance of affective and community relationships. It is concluded that the 6x1 schedule constitutes a risk factor for psychological well-being, highlighting the need for organizational policies and mental health promotion strategies capable of balancing productivity, quality of life, and the strengthening of workers’ social relationships.
