Abstract

Palliative care is an essential approach in healthcare, especially in end-of-life contexts, as it prioritizes the relief of suffering and the promotion of human dignity. This study aims to analyze the main challenges faced by nursing professionals in promoting dignity in patients receiving palliative care. This is an integrative literature review conducted using scientific databases, selecting studies published in recent years on the topic. The results showed that nursing teams face difficulties related to communication with patients and families, pain and complex symptom management, as well as structural and emotional limitations in the workplace. The need for specific training and institutional support to ensure humanized care was also highlighted. It is concluded that, despite the challenges, nursing plays a fundamental role in ensuring a dignified death, making it essential to strengthen public policies, professional training, and patient-centered care strategies.
