ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE AND ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY: LEGAL CHALLENGES IN REGULATING TECHNOLOGICAL USE IN STRATEGIC SECTORS

The advancement of artificial intelligence (AI) has transformed several sectors, including agriculture and energy. However, its exponential growth raises environmental concerns, especially regarding energy consumption and the generation of electronic waste. This article used a literature and legislative review to analyze the environmental impacts of AI in the energy and agriculture sectors and the legal challenges associated with its regulation. The research adopts a qualitative approach, with a literature review and documentary analysis of national and international legal frameworks. The research results point to the urgent need for specific legislation that considers environmental sustainability in the development and application of AI. It is concluded that integrating environmental principles into AI regulation is essential to mitigate its negative impacts and promote sustainable technological development.
