CURCUMIN AND HEALTH: PHARMACOKINETICS IN GLYCEMIC CONTROL IN PATIENTS WITH DIABETES

This study analyzes the pharmacokinetics of curcumin and its relationship with glycemic control in patients with Diabetes Mellitus. It is an integrative literature review based on studies published between 2020 and 2025. The results show that curcumin has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, acting to reduce oxidative stress and improve insulin sensitivity. In addition, it influences important metabolic pathways, contributing to glycemic balance. However, its low bioavailability represents a challenge for clinical application, requiring the development of new formulations. It is concluded that curcumin has potential as a complementary therapy in diabetes management, although further studies are needed to standardize doses and confirm its efficacy and safety.
