Emerging viral diseases pose an increasing challenge to intensive care medicine due to their high transmissibility, genetic variability, and rapid clinical deterioration in critically ill patients. This study aimed to analyze the main impacts of these diseases on intensive care management, identifying effective strategies for treatment and prevention. An integrative literature review was conducted using publications from 2018 to 2024 in PubMed, SciELO, and Web of Science, focusing on reference authors such as Fauci (2020), Morens & Fauci (2023), and Piot et al. (2022). The results indicated that early mechanical ventilation, continuous hemodynamic monitoring, and the careful use of antiviral therapies are essential to reduce mortality. Furthermore, continuous training of healthcare teams and the development of evidence-based protocols were highlighted. It is concluded that the integration of epidemiological surveillance, medical technology, and professional training is crucial to strengthen the intensive care response to emerging viral diseases.
