Abstract

Contemporary social and technological transformations have driven significant changes in teaching and learning processes in secondary education, requiring new pedagogical practices and educational models. This study aimed to analyze transformations in teaching and learning in secondary education in response to the demands of contemporary society. This is an integrative literature review conducted in the Diadorim, Miguilim, SpringerLink, and Livre databases, considering studies published between 2021 and 2026 in Portuguese and English. Scientific publications related to pedagogical innovation, educational technologies, teacher training, active methodologies, and competency development were selected. The results showed that secondary education has undergone a process of redefinition, characterized by the integration of digital resources, artificial intelligence, flexible learning approaches, and student-centered strategies. The findings also highlighted that continuous teacher development and institutional support are essential elements for consolidating innovative educational practices. It is concluded that educational transformation requires articulation between technology, pedagogy, and human development, promoting more critical, inclusive, and socially aligned learning processes capable of responding to current contemporary demands.
