This chapter aims to analyze the implementation of the Patient Safety Center (PSC) in Brazilian healthcare institutions, highlighting managerial challenges and care-related impacts within the context of the Unified Health System (SUS). This is a qualitative, descriptive-analytical study based on a narrative literature review and analysis of regulatory documents, with emphasis on the National Patient Safety Program guidelines established by the Ministry of Health. The results indicate that the implementation of the PSC strengthens the safety culture, standardizes protocols, improves adverse event monitoring, and enhances healthcare processes. However, challenges remain, including organizational resistance, limited human and financial resources, weaknesses in interprofessional communication, and insufficient support from top management. It is concluded that the effective consolidation of the PSC requires institutional commitment, continuing education, participatory leadership, and integration between management and care practices, establishing it as an essential strategy for improving quality of care and reducing preventable harm in the Brazilian healthcare setting.
