PHARMACOLOGICAL PROPERTIES AND CLINICAL APPLICATIONS OF ZINGIBER OFFICINALE ROSCOE

Zingiber officinale Roscoe, commonly known as ginger, is a medicinal plant with significant therapeutic potential. This study aimed to analyze its pharmacological properties and clinical applications through an integrative literature review. Articles published between 2020 and 2025 were selected from the Google Scholar, SciELO, PubMed, and LILACS databases. The results showed the presence of bioactive compounds, such as 6-gingerol and 6-shogaol, associated with antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, and antiemetic activities. Clinical evidence demonstrated its effectiveness in reducing nausea and vomiting, especially in patients undergoing chemotherapy, as well as its potential for phytotherapeutic development. Although it has a good safety profile, excessive consumption may pose risks. It is concluded that ginger has significant therapeutic potential and relevant applications in the pharmaceutical and clinical fields.
