Abstract

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) has been gaining ground in the Brazilian healthcare scenario, especially with the advancement of public health policies focused on Integrative and Complementary Practices within the Unified Health System (SUS), particularly in Primary Health Care. This study is a case report of a patient with chronic low back pain associated with knee pain, treated in a university extension project at the State University of Minas Gerais (UEMG). The methodology included a detailed medical history, pain intensity assessment using the Visual Analog Scale (VAS), identification of Ashi points, and cupping therapy sessions along the spinal column and knee joints, combined with functional stimulation and auriculotherapy. After the therapeutic interventions, a significant reduction in pain was observed in both the immediate and long-term periods, as well as decreased anxiety levels and improved sleep quality. As a result, practices derived from TCM proved to be effective for this patient in managing chronic pain, promoting improvements in musculoskeletal function and overall quality of life.
