Early exposure to screens has become increasingly common in families' routines, leading to children coming into contact with electronic devices in their early years. Considering that the 0–3-year age range is a crucial period for language acquisition, understanding the potential impacts of this exposure becomes relevant. This study aims to analyze the association between early screen exposure and language development in children in this age group, with a focus on speech-language pathology. This is a descriptive and narrative literature review, based on the analysis of 17 bibliographic sources, including scientific articles published between 2019 and 2025 and from PubMed, SciELO, and Google Scholar. The results indicate that early and frequent screen exposure may be associated with difficulties in language development, especially expressive language, as well as reducing opportunities for communicative interaction. It is also observed that passive screen use, without adult mediation, has a greater potential for negative impact due to the reduction of linguistic feedback. It is concluded that early exposure to screens can interfere with speech acquisition and communicative development, reinforcing the importance of speech therapy guidance for caregivers and the value of social interactions in the family environment.
