Vocational education has been increasingly valued in the current social and economic context, as it is a fundamental tool for training skilled professionals who are able to work in the labor market. However, this type of education often focuses only on technical skills, neglecting the theoretical and philosophical training of students. Given this scenario, this article aims to analyze the importance of theoretical and philosophical teaching in vocational education. To this end, a bibliographic methodology was carried out through a systematic review of the literature, based on articles, books, and documents related to the topic. The results obtained indicate that professional education should go beyond technical skills, also developing students' critical thinking, reflection, and argumentation skills. This is essential so that these professionals are not only skilled workers, but also critical citizens who are aware of their role in society. In this sense, it is necessary that theoretical-philosophical teaching be incorporated across the board in professional education, allowing for the integration of theory and practice and the comprehensive training of students. In addition, it is essential that teachers be prepared and motivated to address these contents in order to spark students' interest and reflection. In conclusion, theoretical and philosophical teaching in professional education is essential for the development of critical, ethical professionals committed to the transformation of society. Therefore, it is essential that there be appreciation and investment in this area in order to ensure a more complete and qualified training of future professionals.
