LOGIC ACTIVITIES IN PRIMARY EDUCATION: DEVELOPING PROBLEM-SOLVING SKILLS

This article presents the results of an analysis of the application of logical activities in primary school mathematics classes, with a focus on the development of skills that are essential to the integral formation of students, such as the ability to solve everyday problems, make conscious decisions and exercise critical thinking. The main aim of the research was to investigate the effectiveness of these activities in improving cognitive and mathematical skills in 6th grade students aged between 11 and 12. To this end, active teaching methodologies were used, with an emphasis on playful strategies such as mathematical games and, in particular, puzzles. These resources were used in a planned and systematic way, seeking to promote a more dynamic, participatory and challenging learning environment. The implementation of the activities was monitored through observations and records of the students' progress, taking into account aspects such as logical reasoning, capacity for abstraction, teamwork and performance in solving mathematical problems. The results obtained indicate that the use of logical activities contributes significantly to student engagement and the improvement of their cognitive and mathematical skills. There was also a positive impact on the students' attitude towards the proposed challenges, revealing greater autonomy, persistence and interest in the content. It can be concluded that logical activities, when applied well, are an effective teaching tool for the all-round development of students and for improving the quality of mathematics teaching in primary education.
