Abstract

The transformation of contemporary educational processes has highlighted the need for pedagogical practices capable of promoting autonomy, critical thinking, and the continuous development of competencies. This study aimed to analyze the contributions of formative assessment associated with active methodologies in the construction of competencies for lifelong learning. This is an integrative literature review conducted in the ERIC, SpringerLink, and Diadorim databases, including studies published between 2021 and 2026 in Portuguese and English. The results demonstrated that the integration of formative assessment and active methodologies enhances student protagonism, self-regulated learning, academic engagement, and the development of cognitive, social, and professional competencies. It was also identified that continuous feedback, collaborative learning, and the use of digital technologies expand possibilities for personalized educational processes. It is concluded that these strategies represent relevant approaches for student-centered education, contributing to the development of individuals prepared for continuous learning in response to social and professional transformations.
