Abstract

Messenger RNA (mRNA) vaccines represent one of the most important biotechnological innovations in modern immunization, expanding therapeutic possibilities beyond the control of infectious diseases. This study aimed to analyze the potential of mRNA vaccines in the prevention and treatment of chronic and degenerative diseases, highlighting their applications, challenges, and future perspectives. The methodology consisted of a narrative review of scientific literature based on articles indexed in national and international databases published in recent years, including studies related to immunology, biotechnology, and advanced therapies. The results demonstrated that mRNA technology has a high capacity to induce specific immune responses, flexibility in vaccine platform development, and potential applications in diseases such as cancer, neurodegenerative disorders, and cardiovascular conditions. Recent studies have shown important advances in therapeutic vaccines focused on immunomodulation and personalized medicine. However, challenges remain regarding molecular stability, production costs, and large-scale distribution. It is concluded that mRNA vaccines have significant potential to transform prevention and treatment strategies, representing a promising tool for the future of immunization in chronic and degenerative diseases.
