This article proposes a reflection on the preparation and application of the Individualized Education Plan (IEP) as a fundamental pedagogical tool for valuing the abilities and needs of students who are the target of Special Education. Based on practices experienced in Specialized Educational Assistance (AEE), the IEP is highlighted not just as a legal requirement, but as a living tool, built through sensitive listening, systematic monitoring and valuing the individual achievements of each student.
The text discusses the IEP as an essential element in inclusive pedagogical planning, answering key questions: what is its real importance? Who should it be designed for? How can it be drawn up effectively? And how can it be applied in everyday school life? The proposal is to offer not only the legal and theoretical foundations of the IEP, but also practical guidelines and support models to strengthen the work of ordinary classroom teachers, promoting a collaborative network between the ESA and mainstream education.
