THE IMPORTANCE OF REQUESTING LABORATORY TESTS FOR SAFETY AND EFFICACY IN FACIAL AESTHETIC PROCEDURES

Abstract

Aesthetic biomedicine has established itself as an expanding field driven by the growing demand for minimally invasive procedures that ensure safety, efficacy, and satisfactory outcomes. In this context, the request for preliminary laboratory tests emerges as a fundamental step in preventing complications, as it allows for the identification of clinical conditions that could compromise patient health. This integrative review aimed to analyze the importance of laboratory tests applied to facial aesthetic procedures, focusing on their contribution to the safe practice of biomedical professionals in aesthetics. A total of 12 articles published between 2020 and 2025 were analyzed, selected according to predefined inclusion and exclusion criteria through a structured search in the Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO), PubMed, and Google Scholar databases, with no language restrictions. The descriptors were obtained from the Health Sciences Descriptors (DeCS): “Clinical Laboratory Techniques,” “Cosmetic Techniques,” and “Patient Safety.” The results indicated that hematological, metabolic, inflammatory, nutritional, and endocrine tests are essential tools for clinical evaluation, enabling personalized and scientifically supported approaches. It is concluded that the integration of laboratory testing, safety protocols, and continuous professional training constitutes a central pillar for the advancement of aesthetic biomedicine, fostering an ethical, scientific, and humanized practice.
