IMPACTS OF THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC ON THE QUALITY OF LIFE OF THE ELDERLY: AN INTEGRATIVE REVIEW

This study aimed to analyze the impacts of the COVID-19 Pandemic on the quality of life of the elderly. Methodology: exploratory study with a qualitative approach through an integrative review. The inclusion criteria were scientific articles indexed in the SciELO, Lilacs and Pubmed databases, from 2019 to 2023 in full and free of charge using the search descriptors: COVID-19 pandemic and impacts on the quality of life of the elderly. Results: Biopsychosocial aspects were generally affected due to isolation and social distancing. There was an increase in anxiety, cases of depression, sadness, as well as eating disorders and walking difficulties. Final Considerations: It is understood that the context of the COVID-19 pandemic was in fact very embarrassing for humanity and that it had a severe impact on the lives of the elderly, causing morphofunctional and biopsychosocial changes to quality of life.
