EDUCAÇÃO EM SAÚDE ANIMAL: DO CONHECIMENTO À PRÁTICA

Este capítulo explica o que é educação em saúde e como ela pode ser aplicada na produção animal. A educação em saúde é um processo contínuo e planejado de ensino e aprendizagem, construído em diálogo entre o profissional e as pessoas com quem ele trabalha, com o objetivo de fortalecer a capacidade dessas pessoas de adotar práticas que protejam a saúde. Na produção animal, ela está diretamente ligada à abordagem de Saúde Única, segundo a qual a saúde humana, a saúde animal e a saúde ambiental são interdependentes. Para melhor compreensão, foram abordados os fundamentos da educação em saúde, contemplando seu conceito e princípios de aplicação, o papel dos profissionais na realização de ações educativas, as características dos públicos envolvidos e a escolha de estratégias metodológicas, além dos aspectos relacionados ao planejamento e à avaliação dessas ações. Abordou-se a contribuição dos programas sanitários e da extensão rural no contexto brasileiro. Como resultado, nota-se que a transmissão do conhecimento, isoladamente, não garante a mudança de práticas em prol da saúde e, portanto, as pessoas devem ser engajadas em ações participativas, adaptadas à realidade local, contínuas e acompanhadas de assistência técnica para que sejam mais efetivas.
