THE MEANING OF HISTORY AND THE ETHICS OF RESPONSIBILITY IN RAYMOND ARON

This objective article presents two themes developed by Raymond Aron (1905 – 1983): the meaning of history and the ethics of responsibility. These themes, although they appear as different and distant contents, are intertwined in the way Aron conceives them. If, on the one hand, the meaning of history is not reduced to the creation of stages of development in order to achieve, by means of the laws of history, a final teleology, as Aron saw in Marxism and the French intelligentsia, on the other hand, the ethics of responsibility highlights the acts of individuals developed in history.
