A PECULIAR JOURNEY: JOURNALIST MURILO AND THE COMPANY RECOPLEX

Abstract

This article aims to briefly analyze the personal history of a journalist from Maranhão named Raimundo Murilo de Araújo, as well as his newspaper clipping company called Recoplex. The objective is to briefly analyze the trajectory of the Maranhão journalist Raimundo Murilo de Araújo and the newspaper clipping company Recoplex, highlighting its relevance to the history of the press and to the construction of local history in the second half of the 20th and beginning of the 21st centuries. This research is justified by the relationship between the press and local history, insofar as the clippings produced by the company date back to a context of the second half of the 20th century in Maranhão, as seen in a report from the Diário do Norte newspaper and an undated clipping. The methodology used is the history of material culture through the printed newspaper and oral history, focusing on local history and the local press. For the sources, field research was conducted on newspaper clippings at the DPHAP (Department of Historical, Artistic and Landscape Heritage of Maranhão) and oral history about the Recoplex company. The research confirmed the relevance of studying and understanding the history of the local press, the company's clippings, and the trajectory of the journalist Murilo.
