TEACHING CHEMISTRY WITH PLAYFUL ACTIVITIES APPLIED TO HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS

Abstract

Chemistry is seen as a complex subject, given that many students face numerous difficulties, especially first-year high school students. Faced with this fact and the need for a different teaching method to facilitate learning and eliminate repetitive lessons, we conceived of an active methodology. Observing that students are often exhausted by traditional teaching, we opted to apply gamification, aiming for a different learning experience, providing an unusual and stimulating learning experience. As a consequence, the change in methodology, environment, and ways of applying activities, which move away from the conventional, capture students' attention and improve the quality of learning.
