REGIONAL FRUITS IN THE DAILY LIVES OF STUDENTS: A REFLECTION ON THE LEARNING OF STUDENTS AT A RURAL SCHOOL

Abstract

The main objective of this article is to educate students about the fruits they grow in their localities and harvested by their caregivers, which are part of their local culture and daily diet. Thus, the need arose to implement this theme with students through a larger project entitled "The School Goes to the Square," an initiative of the Municipal Department of Education (SEMED). It is a broad project that has been running for 14 years in the municipality, and each year it introduces a different theme, always aiming to highlight culture, art, and pedagogical practice. It addresses specific themes that seek to reclaim and contextualize the municipality's history. In 2023, the theme was: "In the Rivers of Literacy: "Teaching is a Horse's Father," with the central theme "Pedagogical Practices in the Cabano Context." The project culminates in the week before the municipality's anniversary, April 19th. In this context, all students in the municipal school system are involved. Based on this, the project considered the need to publicize the work done by 6th-grade students at the Nossa Senhora do Perpétuo Socorro I Municipal Elementary School. This work was titled: "REGIONAL FRUITS IN THE EVERYDAY LIVES OF STUDENTS: A Reflection on the Learning of Students at a Rural School." The theme arose from the recognition and appreciation of local culture and the need to incorporate it into the literacy process through everyday practices experienced in the various contexts of the school environment.
