This article aims to analyze how Conceição Evaristo's literature, focusing on her work "Becos de Memória," addresses issues of collective memory and identity. The research seeks to understand how the author uses narrative elements to give voice to the history of marginalized communities, exploring the plots that intertwine everyday life with the affective and cultural memories of her characters. The general objectives include identifying the literary strategies Evaristo employs to represent memory and its social implications. The specific objectives involve analyzing the construction of characters and settings that reflect the life experiences of marginalized individuals and groups, as well as the relationship between literature and the formation of cultural identity. The methodology adopted is bibliographical research, which involves a review of the critical literature on Evaristo's work and an in-depth textual analysis. This study considers the contributions of authors such as Homi Bhabha and Pierre Nora, who discuss the relationship between memory, identity, and space, in addition to emphasizing the role of literature in the construction and preservation of collective memory.
