Abstract

This article analyzes the relationship between urban space production, transphobia, and the exclusion of transgender and travesti people in Brazil, considering their psychosocial impacts and the limitations on the right to the city. It aims to understand how inequalities and transphobic violence contribute to urban segregation and psychological suffering. This theoretical-bibliographic study draws on scientific literature addressing urban space, gender, social vulnerability, transphobia, and mental health. Its theoretical framework brings together the contributions of Lefebvre, Lugones, Akotirene, Mbembe, Goffman, Meyer, Moraes, and Sawaia. The findings indicate that transphobia extends beyond interpersonal relationships and is also expressed through the organization and experience of urban spaces, restricting mobility, visibility, belonging, and access to rights. The article concludes that the suffering experienced by trans people must be understood through its social, political, and territorial dimensions, moving beyond individualizing perspectives.
