Organizational culture encompasses values, assumptions, norms, and practices that shape how people interpret situations and behave at work. This article aims to analyze, through a literature review, how organizational culture may relate to employee performance. It is a qualitative, bibliographic, and exploratory study based on foundational works and studies on culture, organizational behavior, motivation, commitment, and effectiveness. The literature indicates that culture can provide shared references for work coordination, but its effects depend on context, consistency between declared values and actual practices, working conditions, and leadership behavior. Schein (2010), Denison (1990), and Cameron and Quinn (2011) provide perspectives on cultural dimensions, while Deci and Ryan (2000), Meyer and Allen (1991), and Robbins and Judge (2017) support the discussion of motivation, commitment, and workplace behavior. The article concludes that culture does not determine performance on its own but may facilitate or hinder it through its interaction with individual and organizational factors.
