Abstract

Contemporary transformations in work organization have intensified the cognitive, emotional, and organizational demands imposed on workers. Within this context, Burnout Syndrome has emerged as a significant work-related phenomenon associated with prolonged exposure to unfavorable working conditions. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between work organization, the culture of hyperproductivity, and the development of Burnout Syndrome, discussing these issues from the perspective of Organizational Ergonomics. An integrative literature review was conducted based on a previously defined review protocol addressing burnout, psychosocial risks, work organization, and ergonomics. The analysis indicates that work intensification, increasing performance demands, reduced autonomy, insufficient organizational resources, communication failures, and weak social support networks are important factors associated with occupational illness. From the perspective of Organizational Ergonomics, these factors should be understood as components of the sociotechnical system whose configuration directly affects workers' health, safety, and performance. The findings suggest that Burnout prevention requires structural interventions focused on redesigning work organization, balancing job demands and organizational resources, and promoting healthier work environments rather than relying exclusively on individual-centered approaches.
