Abstract

Sheep meat production has growth potential in Brazil, but its economic feasibility depends on production scale, production costs, and market price volatility. This study evaluated the economic feasibility of lamb finishing in Campo Mourão, Paraná, considering small, medium, and large production scales. The research is quantitative, applied, and descriptive, based on secondary data from CEPEA, EMBRAPA, and CONAB. Economic feasibility was assessed using Net Present Value (NPV), Internal Rate of Return (IRR), and Payback, complemented by Monte Carlo simulation with 1,000 iterations. The results indicated economic feasibility in all scales, with higher value generation in larger systems. The probability of loss was 31.0% for the small scale, 27.0% for the medium scale, and 26.7% for the large scale. Sensitivity analysis showed that selling price and unit variable cost were the variables with the greatest impact on NPV. The study concludes that lamb finishing is economically feasible in the analyzed region, provided that it is supported by planning, cost control, and marketing management.
