Abstract

Tirzepatide represents a therapeutic innovation in the treatment of obesity and type 2 diabetes mellitus, acting as a dual agonist of glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) and glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP) receptors. In addition to its widely documented metabolic benefits, recent evidence suggests a significant impact on women's reproductive health, especially in women with obesity, insulin resistance, and polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). This article reviews the physiological mechanisms involved and discusses the effects of tirzepatide on the menstrual cycle, ovulatory function, hormonal profile, and fertility. The results indicate that the improved insulin sensitivity and weight reduction promoted by the drug may contribute to menstrual regulation, reduction of hyperandrogenism, and restoration of reproductive function in metabolically compromised women.
