Abstract

Argumentation is an essential element in the construction of discourse and the production of academic texts, as it allows for the organization of ideas, the defense of points of view, and the presentation of well-founded reasoning. In this context, the present study aims to analyze the main elements of argumentation present in textual production, highlighting their importance for the construction of coherent and persuasive discourses. The research is characterized as a qualitative bibliographic study, based on the theoretical contributions of authors in textual linguistics and argumentation theory, such as Chaïm Perelman, Lucie Olbrechts-Tyteca, Ingedore Villaça Koch, and Luiz Antônio Marcuschi. The literature review shows that the argumentative structure is organized from fundamental elements, such as the thesis, arguments, evidence, and conclusion, which act in an integrated way in the construction of the text's meaning. The results indicate that the appropriate use of these elements contributes to the development of clearer, more consistent, and persuasive texts, favoring the communication of ideas and the strengthening of critical thinking. It can be concluded that mastering the elements of argumentation is fundamental for academic training and for the development of reading and writing skills, since it enables the elaboration of more structured and well-founded discourses in the educational and scientific context.
