Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the implications of  remote work in the field of Information Technology, with emphasis on dimensions related to autonomy, social relations, professional identity construction, and psychosocial and bodily effects in the post-pandemic context. This is a narrative literature review with a qualitative, exploratory, and descriptive approach. The search was conducted in scientific databases using descriptors related to remote work, information technology, and psychosocial dimensions. A total of 20 articles were selected and analyzed thematically. The results showed that, although remote work is associated with flexibility and autonomy, it also intensifies experiences of social isolation, weakens professional bonds, and creates difficulties in the construction of belonging. It was also observed that professional identity, especially among early-career individuals, becomes marked by the constant need to demonstrate competence, resulting in multifunctional and, at times, fragmented trajectories. Additionally, psychosocial and bodily effects related to digital work were identified, such as cognitive overload, mental fatigue, and symptoms of anxiety, intensified by the pressure for continuous updating and by the growing banalization of technical knowledge due to the widespread diffusion of technologies such as artificial intelligence. It is concluded that remote work in the field of Information Technology constitutes a complex phenomenon that combines benefits and tensions, impacting professional experience, identity construction, and workers' well-being.
