NR-24 TRAINING: PROMOTING SAFETY AND COMFORT IN THE WORKPLACE

Abstract

Occupational safety plays an important role in modern companies, especially when the level of risk increases. From this perspective, it can be seen that Brazil is among the countries that lead the way in the statistics of deaths from accidents at work, with an estimated 137 accidents for every 10,000 workers. Therefore, in view of this reality, Regulatory Norms (NR) have emerged to prevent occupational accidents. This chapter focuses on NR 24 in particular, which focuses on sanitary and comfort conditions in work environments. For the extension work, the Casa da Criança in Frutal (MG), an institution dedicated to the care and development of children in vulnerable situations, was chosen. This organization works as a supplementary system during periods that don't coincide with the school term. In addition to educational activities, tutoring and complementary activities, the institution also provides meals for the children. In order to promote the well-being of both the children and the professionals involved, the PAEX 01/2023 extension project proposed a comprehensive study to assess the organization's compliance with NR-24. The main objective was to train the institution's employees in occupational accidents and illnesses through lectures and the presentation of a guidance booklet. The results achieved by these actions were not only aimed at a better understanding of NR-24, but also indicate a prospect of significant progress in terms of compliance with the rules. Meetings and orientation sessions were held, and the project concluded with the delivery of the teaching material for the lecture in November and the delivery of the booklet in December 2023. It is felt that the project can lead to the creation of a healthier, more pleasant and safer working environment in this institution, as well as improving the sanitary conditions and comfort of everyone who uses the space. However, it is imperative to continue monitoring and improving these measures to ensure a safe and healthy working environment for everyone involved.
