Abstract

Osteoporosis is a disease characterized by significant bone loss and decreased bone density, increased trabecular spaces, and degeneration of bone tissue microarchitecture. However, its influence on bone repair in implant dentistry should be analyzed more carefully. The aim of this study was to conduct a narrative literature review on the relationship between osteoporosis and dental implants. To this end, a search was performed on PubMed using the terms "osteoporosis" and "dental implants" for articles published between 2005 and 2025. The results showed that osteoporosis, despite being associated with impaired bone tissue repair, does not contraindicate the placement of dental implants. It is up to each professional to individually analyze the patient's clinical picture to ensure the most precise indication possible. In conclusion, dental implants are a viable alternative for the oral rehabilitation of missing teeth, even in cases of osteoporotic patients, provided there is precise and individualized planning.
