Abstract

Gastric cancer remains an important public health issue due to its high mortality and the frequent occurrence of late diagnosis. This study aimed to analyze and compare the epidemiological profile of malignant stomach neoplasia with invasive lesions in the Federal District and the state of Goiás, considering hospitalizations, incidence, and mortality. This is a quantitative, descriptive, and retrospective study based on secondary data obtained from the InfoSaúdeDF platform, covering the period from 2019 to 2025. The results showed that the Federal District recorded 149 hospitalizations for gastric cancer, while Goiás accounted for 21. The highest concentration of hospitalizations occurred in individuals over 55 years of age, and deaths were more frequent among older adults, especially those between 60 and 79 years old. A predominance of deaths among individuals identified as brown, followed by white, was observed. Differences between the regions may be related to installed healthcare capacity, access to specialized services, and socioeconomic inequalities. It is concluded that the Federal District presents more favorable healthcare indicators, whereas Goiás faces structural limitations that may affect detection and treatment. The findings reinforce the importance of early diagnosis, improved access to oncological care, and the reduction of regional disparities.
