SOCIAL INTERACTION AND BOND-STRENGTHENING SERVICE: CHALLENGES AND POTENTIAL IN THE PROFESSIONAL PRACTICE OF CRAS CARÁ-CARÁ

Abstract

This research aims to present the challenges and potential associated with the implementation of the Social Interaction and Bond-Strengthening Service (SCFV) at the Cará-Cará Social Assistance Reference Center (CRAS) in the municipality of Ponta Grossa, Paraná. Organized into three chapters, the study is qualitative in nature and relies on bibliographic research, document analysis, and semi-structured interviews. Its general objective was to understand the challenges and potential that manifest in the professional practice of social workers within the daily operations of the CRAS, considering their work and coordination with the social assistance protection network, as well as institutional working conditions. The results show that, despite institutional weaknesses—such as resource shortages and staff overload—the SCFV serves as a vital space for providing a welcoming environment, active listening, and the strengthening of family and community bonds. It was observed that the professionals' critical and mediating role is essential for the effective delivery of basic social protection and the defense of service users' rights. Finally, the study highlights concerns regarding the recent discontinuation of the SCFV, which represents a setback in guaranteeing opportunities for social interaction and promoting social autonomy.
