Abstract

This research aimed to investigate Amazonian riverside music, focusing on the production of an artist from Porto Velho (RO), in order to understand how his songs express the experiences and ways of life in Northern Brazil. The study employed qualitative methods, including lyric analysis, interviews with musicians, and observation of performances at local events. The results indicated that the compositions highlight everyday stories, collective memories, and cultural practices related to the Amazonian environment, incorporating elements of the river, the forest, and community life. It was also found that music is used as a means of recording local events, providing a space for social criticism, and serving as a resource for cultural appreciation. The study concludes that riverside music plays a relevant role in preserving traditions, strengthening social bonds, and disseminating the region’s narratives. In this way, its practice contributes to increasing the visibility of Amazonian communities and reinforcing the importance of their cultural expressions within the Brazilian context.
