This article seeks to understand the real reasons behind the war between Russia and Ukraine, going beyond the simplified narratives propagated by the international media. Based on a historical, political, and geopolitical analysis, it addresses the tensions that have accumulated since the end of the Soviet Union, NATO's expansion into Eastern Europe, and the strategic interests surrounding Ukraine's energy resources and geographical position. The objective is to critically reflect on the structural causes of the conflict and how it fits into the scenario of global hegemonic disputes. It concludes that the war cannot be reduced to a mere territorial invasion, but rather understood as part of an international power game, in which different projects for the political and economic organization of the world clash.
