Abstract

Safety and quality in hemodynamic procedures are essential aspects of contemporary cardiovascular care, particularly given the increasing use of minimally invasive diagnostic and therapeutic interventions and the clinical complexity of treated patients. This study is characterized as a literature review with a qualitative and descriptive approach, aiming to analyze the main factors related to patient safety and quality of care in hemodynamic services, identifying risks, preventive measures, and challenges faced by multidisciplinary teams. The methodology comprised the analysis of scientific publications related to invasive cardiovascular procedures, patient safety, prevention of complications, and organization of healthcare services. The results showed that bleeding events, vascular complications, exposure to ionizing radiation, reactions to contrast media, infections, and failures related to communication and work processes represent important challenges to care. Well-defined protocols, appropriate patient assessment, professional training, teamwork, monitoring of quality indicators, and radiation protection practices were found to contribute to risk reduction. It is concluded that the quality of hemodynamic procedures depends on the integration of technical competence, organization of healthcare processes, and continuous strengthening of the safety culture.
