Abstract

This article discusses the main challenges and practices related to the literacy process, focusing on the development of reading and writing skills. The analysis shows that literacy goes beyond symbol decoding, being a continuous process that involves social, cultural, emotional, and technological aspects. Innovative methodologies, teacher training, public policies, and the integration between literacy and multiliteracies are addressed. The study reinforces that literacy must be understood as a fundamental human right and as a tool of citizenship, capable of transforming social reality and promoting inclusion.
